New protection dam to be build in Moldova (VIDEO)
Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs recently participated in a training course within the Moldovan-Czech project "Improving Operational and Professional Competencies in Flood Prevention".
The program was carried out in collaboration with the Rescue and Fire Detachment Unit in the town of Zbiroh, Czech Republic. According to the IGSU, the training aimed to familiarize the specialists with techniques and means of flood prevention by applying mobile barriers, as well as the practical training of the group of trainers in the use of specialized equipment.
Ten employees of the Inspectorate within the territorial subdivisions participated in the training course. Firefighters and rescuers have taken over new construction techniques for protective dams. They were presented by their Czech colleagues with a 1100 m long protective barrier and a water holding capacity of over one meter in height.
A similar construction will be brought to our country at the end of August. The mobile dam will serve as flood protection in danger areas. It can be mounted and dismantled as needed, and rescuers could use it quickly in case of increased water levels in flood-prone areas.
As a result of the project, two water-absorption pumps with a capacity of 6000 liters / min will be brought in August. At the same time, in October 2018, representatives from the Czech Republic together with IGSU employees of the MIA will carry out practical applications with the equipment delivered under the conditions specific to our country.
The project "Improving Operational and Professional Competencies in Flood Prevention" is in its second phase, being ongoing since 2011.
