At the beginning of August, on the Chisinau airport  a new runway for take off and landing will be installed. The runway will be 2,5 kilometers long and 45 meters wide.

The second runway will be used while the main land of the airport will be repaired.

"The activity of the airport should be stopped for a term of 10-12 hours. Analyzing everything, we decided to open the second runway", said Petru Jardan, the director of Avia Invest.

"It is not a big difference between the runways. The difference between the thickness is not that big", said Jacob Jurca, project manager.

The guarantee term of the second runway is five years and the insurance company says it will resist up to 40 years.

The repairing works started in 2017 and the project is worth 15 million euros.
