New spark for development of Moldova - NATO partnership
Moldovan government approved today the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) of the Republic of Moldova - North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) for period 2017-2019.
Thus, over the next three years, a series of actions will be undertaken to reform and modernize the security sector, develop the armed forces, combat new threats to security and promote public diplomacy.
The IPAP also includes the Strengthening Defense Capabilities and Interoperability Platform objectives.
The document also provides for the opening of the NATO Liaison Office in Moldova, which will provide our country with new opportunities for developing practical cooperation in the implementation of joint reforms and projects.
IPAP also defines a number of objectives of the Republic of Moldova - North Atlantic Alliance relationship, including: organizing political consultations on security and defense issues, enhancing interoperability through continued participation in the Kosovo peacekeeping operation, the implementation of assistance projects through NATO Funds, increasing emergency preparedness, crisis management.
In this context, the Prime Minister Pavel Filip enunciated: "I want to emphasize once more that the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova is respected, a subject that is very speculated by those who want to raise related discussions as much as possible. The neutrality does not mean national isolation. Good collaboration is one of our objectives to modernize national army".
