New step in energy interconnection of Romania and Moldova
Romania and Moldova have started, through IS Moldelectrica and Transelectrica, the bilateral cooperation agreement in electricity, including investment to upgrade and develop electricity infrastructure in Moldova, Agerpres has learnt from the Romanian Ministry of Economy.
"On Tuesday, July 26, Chisinau hosted the meeting of the Joint Working Group on Energy within the Inter-governmental Commission Romania — Moldova. The Group analyzed the progress on projects to interconnect electricity and natural gas transmission networks between Moldova and Romania. They especially discussed the new development phases of the Iasi — Ungheni pipeline on Moldova's territory up to Chisinau, and in Romania, up to Onesti.
"As for the electricity field, the future actions regarding the implementation of the first asynchronous interconnection Isaccea — Vulcanesti — Chisinau were discussed. The feasibility study of this electricity interconnection is under progress, conducted by a consortium led by ISPE," reads the press release.
During the meeting, the managers of IS Moldelectrica and Transelectrica signed the bilateral cooperation agreement in electricity, which involves investment to upgrade and develop the electricity infrastructure in Moldova, providing technical assistance by making available experts and highly qualified specialists.
