The new US Ambassador to Chisinau today officially begins his mission in our country. During a ceremony at the state residence, where he was met by the honor guard, the American diplomat handed the letters of accreditation to President Igor Dodon.
Dereck Hogan arrived in Chisinau a week ago, along with his family. Hogan is a native of Virginia and has been a diplomat since 1997. He is one of the State Department's Eastern Europe specialists who has been on various missions in the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan.
Hogan studied at the University of Pittsburgh and Princeton University.
He speaks Russian and Spanish. The diplomat will replace James Pettit, appointed in May 2014 by US President Barack Obama.
