The night of January 24 was the coldest day of this year. The thermometers showed 23 Celsius degrees below zero.
The frost was better felt by Bravicea village residents, where the thermometers showed 23 degrees below zero, while in the Capital, the thermometers showed 19 Celsius degrees.
The coldest winter was registered to be the winter of 1953, with a temperature of 35,5 degrees below zero.
Generally, the frosts are caused by the cold air masses from the arctic continent, from the Greenland and the eastern European anti-cyclone and very rare, Siberian anti-cyclone that causes advective frosts); also the predominance of anti-cyclonic time (serene and quiet) favors the emergence of radiation frosts.
