Nine independent MPs form the European People's group
Nine independent MPs in the legislature have created the European People group, from former Liberal Democrat MPs and representatives of the European People's Party. The announcement was made today, April 4th by President of PPEM Iurie Leanca and unaffiliated MP Valeriu Ghiletchi.
The new group is represented by the European Popular Party leader Iurie Leanca and his colleague Eugen Carpov, and seven MPs who left the PLDM earlier: Stefan Creangă, George Mocanu, Aliona Gota Octavian Grama, Mihaela Spatari Simion Grisciuc and Valeriu Ghiletchi.
"The main aim of the European People's group will be to support and accelerate measures to continue the European course of the country and reforms undertaken under the Association Agreement" , said Iurie Leanca.
The European People's Party will be led by Valeriu Ghileţchi. The MP said that he will support the implementation of reforms and European vector along with his colleagues.
"We will be the fourth political force in the current Parliament. It is necessary to have a point of view based on pro-European commitments to voters" , said the leader of" European People " , said Valeriu Ghiletchi.
After the parliamentary elections of 2014, five parties were created. Now the largest is the Democratic Party of Moldova, composed of 40 Members.
