Orhei becomes the first town to provide citizens with public bicycle transportation services
The City Hall of Orhei, on the initiative of the mayor, Ilan Shor, announces the start of the project “Bike Sharing”, which provides citizens with 50 bicycles that can be used free of charge for walking around the city or moving from one point of Orhei to another.
Any citizen can use public city bicycles for free, renting them at a specialized station in the city park of Ivanos. The vehicle is provided for free, but a formal contract is concluded, which provides for the user’s responsibility for the safety of the bicycle, as well as compliance with the rules of use. Minors can rent a bicycle, but only accompanied by their parents. Rental will be open from 10-00 to 19-00. A bicycle can be rented for several hours, or for the whole day, at the request of the client.
This program will be tested throughout a whole month. In the future, in the case of the popularity of this service, the rental of public city bicycles will continue.
Bicycles will be of different type and size, for men, women and children. In addition, for convenience, some bikes will have baskets.
Orhei, became the first city in Moldova to implement the practice of mass service of public ecological transport – bicycles. Bicycle transport in general is very popular in most countries of Europe, as well as America and other regions of the world.
