Over 30 bus stations to be upgraded in next 3 years. What happened
More than 30 bus stations in the country will be fully upgraded over the next three years.
The announcement was made in a press release of the Public Property Agency (PPA). According to it, rehabilitation will be set to the administrative buildings, the platforms, the parking lots for the bus stations, as well as the adjacent infrastructure - sanitary groups, sewage and water supply systems, lighting networks.
Also, access ramps for people with disabilities will be built and the information and management systems will be upgraded.
This is enabled thanks to a public-private partnership recently concluded by the Public Property Agency.
As a result of a public competition organized by PPA, a private investor was given the rights to operate the services provided by the State Enterprise Railway Stations and Stations for 25 years.
According to the document, the winning company is obliged to pay the state budget over 5 million lei annually for 25 years.
The result of the contest was publicized by the PPA through the informative communiqué published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova no. 504-511 of 22 December 2018.
The amount will increase by five percent every year. The investor has assumed the responsibility, after the expiration of the partnership agreement, to transfer all property, including the reconstructed, to the state.
"This partnership will benefit passengers, bus drivers and the state", said PPA director Vladimir Baldovici.
Long-lasting public-private partnership provides for investment recovery for over 25 years, which means that the modernization of bus routes will not increase travel tariffs in the coming years. This is because the tariffs are not set by the private partners but the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
"There is no risk that the state will lose the buildings located in bus stations because the Government decides after the contract finishes, the object of the partnership with all the assets and the related assets, including those resulted during the contract period, will be transferred to state ownership in good condition, functional and free from any duties or obligations, "says Vladimir Baldovici.
