More than 500 teenagers from Moldova and Romania met at the fourth edition of the FIRST LEGO League robotics competition. The competition that took place over two days gathered 50 teams from 26 localities.
Catalin Curelea is from Bucharest and is part of the Kids Academy team. The teenager says he has been thoroughly prepared for this contest.
"We are preparing for almost four months, they are standard models, but you can build what you want from them, it comes with pieces, motors, color sensors, rotation like phones," said Cătălin Curelea, participant.
Robots had four samples passed. The Robo Rangers team in Chisinau has achieved the most points this year as well. The members of the group won a prize of 120,000 lei.
Adolescents will represent Moldova at the International Championship in Estonia, which will take place in June.
"We are very glad, especially we are proud because we have worked a lot for this, we have set our goal and we have done it."
"These money will go for the trip from Estonia. We hope to take even one cup to an object."
The event was attended by Education Minister Monica Babuc and US Ambassador to Moldova James Petit.
"It is a master project for the Republic of Moldova and for education. Starting next year in the first class, Moldovan schools will learn disciplines that will be called digital education, and this also means continuing this idea of First Lego League", said Monica Babuc, Minister
