Parcels filled with cigarettes from Moldova found in car owned by some Romanians
Authorities have managed to find in a car, registered in Romania, around 7 000 cigarettes packs originating from the Republic of Moldova, therefore stopping them from being sold in the black market from Iaşi.
Border police officers from Iaşi have stopped a Mercedes Benz E320, registered in Lithuania, attacked to a Mercedes Benz Vaneo, registered in Romania, with four passengers, two in each car, for investigation.
Officers have seen multiple big parcels within the car, for which the vehicles, along with their passengers were taken in for searches.
After the investigation, the border police managed to find nine parcels, from the Republic of Moldova, containing 6.980 cigarettes, worth 41.240 Romanian lei (or 189.716 Moldovan lei).
Two men announced that they have purchased the goods from a man in Bivolari and were to sell them on the black market from Iaşi.
The cigarettes were seized, while the cars made unavailable.
Border Police continue to investigate the case.
