Today we remember the thousands of victims of the US bombings and pray for their peace, but also for humanity to no longer live such events. This was the message of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the context in which the United States marks 17 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.
"17 years ago, the image of the twin towers collapsing marked a whole world and changed the course of history. Then we all saw the true extent of terrorism and we realized that only together we can deal with them. victims of US bombings and pray for their peace, but also for humanity to no longer live such events", wrote Pavel Filip in a post on his Facebook page.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York were hit within a few minutes by two hijacked planes.
Subsequently, another hijacked plane collapsed over the Pentagon, causing significant damage to the western facade of the US Department of Defense building.
A fourth hijacked device collapsed on a field in Pennsylvania. The precise target of terrorists has remained unknown until now, just like the exact circumstances of the catastrophe. It seems that some passengers, informed by mobile phone about the events in New York, have attacked the terrorists.
Almost 3,000 people have lost their lives in the tragedy that shocked the world, and several hundred others were seriously injured. The United States has entered an unprecedented state of alert and triggered the war against Al-Qaida.
