Pavel Filip and Volodimir Groisman held to discuss common development targets

Today, Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with his Ukrainian colleague, Volodimir Groisman, in the margins of the Kiev Security Forum. The officials discussed current issues on the common agenda and emphasized achieving the objectives of the Roadmap for the development of Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation.
Within the discussions, the officials welcomed the promulgation of the law on joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. "Thank you for your support in settling the Transnistrian problem. Without the help of Ukraine we could not have achieved the results we have today", said Pavel Filip.
At the same time, the prime ministers appreciated the completion of the required procedures for the signing of the Agreements on liberalization of car and air transport. They noted that the application of these documents would raise the bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
At the same time, Prime Minister Pavel Filip highlighted the importance of facilitating mutual travel by offering freight and passenger transportation, the opportunity to stay on the territory of the neighboring country for more than 90 days. The prime ministers agreed that this document could be signed during the visit of the Moldovan foreign minister to Kiev, that is scheduled for May.
Pavel Filip also talked about the importance of establishing the conditions for the operation of the Nistrean Hydro-energetic Complex. In this respect, a joint request was made to the European Commission to carry out a study on the impact of the Hydro Power Plant on the Nistru basin and a joint bilateral commission was set up.
The prime ministers also discussed the bilateral trade relations, which are on the rise. The volume of trade between countries increased last year by 30%, as opposed to 2016, reaching 885 million dollars.
Pavel Filip and Volodimir Groisman also stressed the need to step up efforts to address the regional security challenges in the context of territorial conflicts in the two countries. Pavel Filip mentioned in the context that the Republic of Moldova supports the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The Chisinau government will also provide 150 tickets for rest and rehabilitation of pupils in the conflict region in eastern regions of Ukraine this year. "It is a not so significant but symbolic aid, which speaks about the close relations between our countries," said Pavel Filip.
