Pavel Filip: Close relation Moldova - Ukraine benefits citizens of both countries
Relation between Ukraine and Moldova has been ever closer and benefited the citizens of the two countries. The statement was made by Premier Pavel Filip in an interview for the Ukrainian portal Evropeiskaia Pravda.
The head of the Executive said that Ukraine is an important trading partner for our country.
Just last year, goods exchange between these two countries increased by 33 percent versus 2016.
Pavel Filip argues that it is important that Moldova and Ukraine also work together on the implementation of Association Agreements with the European Union.
It's likely that after all reforms, Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia may submit a joint application for EU integration.
The Moldovan official also mentioned that our country enjoys the support of the states in the community bloc because it fulfilled within 75 per cent of the provisions of the Association Agreement.
During the interview, Filip also talked about the problems between Chisinau and the so-called authorities in the Transnistrian region. On this occasion, he thanked the leader of Kiev, Petro Poroshenko, for promulgating the law on joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.
Filip says that this decision will provide a more effective fight against crime and smuggling at the border, and regional security will be enhanced.
There are 68 border crossing points between Moldova and Ukraine, out of which 25 on the Transnistrian segment.
