Pavel Filip: Investment in Moldova to be promoted in USA
Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with the US Trade Representative, where they discussed the current plurality of Moldova-US cooperation relations in the commercial-economic field and the possibilities for their expansion.
At the event, the sides insisted on holding the 3rd meeting Moldovan-Economic economic cooperation intergovernmental commission, emphasizing the discussions at the meeting would contribute substantially to the stimulation of the commercial cooperation and investments between the Moldova and the USA.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip spoke about measures taken by the Government to improve the business environment, including: reduction of permission acts, reduction of institutions with control functions, tax reform, amending the Labor Code, simplifying wage reporting.
All these actions, according to the Prime Minister, were based on a constant dialogue with the business environment on the platform of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister, including the American Chamber of Commerce.
"We have a permanent dialogue with the business community to address the existing problems and to find the best solutions together," said Pavel Filip.
Moreover, the Prime Minister says there will be campaign to inform US businessmen about investment opportunities in the Republic of Moldova.
"For us, the trade relationship with the US is a priority, but even more important is the attraction of American investments in the national economy," emphasized Pavel Filip.
In this respect, the Prime Minister highlighted the opportunities in the IT parks in Moldova, where the conditions are ones of the most attractive in the region.
The Prime Minister thanked the US for the constant support given to our country in promoting democratic transformations, reforms and advancing Moldova towards European integration.
US Trade Representative Daniel Mullaney, in turn, has confirmed interest in boosting trade and economic relations between two countries, enunciating the business environment to ensure predictability and transparency.
According to the Statistics Office, the volume of foreign trade of Moldova with the USA in the period January-June 2017 was over 48 million dollars, 21% more than in the same period last year.
At present, 379 US-based enterprises are operating in the Republic of Moldova.
