Pavel Filip prime minister signed an optional protocol to the Convention regarding the Persons with Disabilities. The document confirms the international responsibility of Moldova to continue protect the rights of the persons with disabilities.
After signing the Protocol, the member countries undertake to recognize the competence of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to receive and analyze the complaints of citizens claiming to be victims of violations of the provisions of the Convention.
Also, the conditions to submit the complains and also the way of interaction with the committee.
The convention regarding the persons with disabilities was adopted on December 13, 2006. The Republic of Moldova signed it on March 30, 2007.
All the EU countries are members of the convention and 120 other countries. The member countries are obliged to provide the human rights of the persons with disabilities, inclusively, their access to education, work, transport and right to vote.
