Pavel Filip requests Bucharest Government to solve the traffic issues at the border on Moldova

Today, Prime Minister Pavel Filip has sent a letter to the Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, where he mentions the problems at the border crossing points and calls for the Romanian Government's involvement to identify solutions.
"Lately, more and more often, there are signs of excessive crowding at border crossing points. Even if some special measures have been taken, the controls take a long time. This is even more evident in the summer, with many cars stationed, including traveling families with children and elderly people",the Prime Minister said.
Pavel Filip mentioned the willingness and promptness with which issues related to the lives of citizens in both countries are usually dealt with. "In the spirit of our open and dynamic partnership, please respect the involvement of the Romanian Government in identifying an optimal solution for the fluidization of traffic", the head of the Cabinet of Ministers wrote.
The prime minister recently paid an unexpected visit to the Leuşeni Customs, where he found irregularities, due to which the customs waiting time increased significantly. Then Pavel Filip demanded the resignation of the head of the customs post and the head of the Border Police at the Leuseni crossing point. As a result, the two resigned.
The study "Assessment of Moldova's Commercial Corridors", conducted with USAID support, shows that "the total waiting time at the border for commodities entering Romania generally takes much longer than at all other EU border crossings." the average time required to cross the Romanian border is about 6 hours (380.4 minutes), while in the case of a non-Romanian border of the EU it is 23.8 minutes.
