Pavel Filip: We appreciate the support in European way and also development assistance offered to our country
The possibilities for intensifying the Moldovan-Polish cooperation and for strengthening the bilateral partnership on the European integration path were discussed today during the meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the President of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Karczewski. The parties noted the advanced level of collaboration between the two states, specifying the need to further promote an open and constructive dialogue, in the interest of the citizens of both countries.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed gratitude for the Polish financial support granted under the Development Assistance Program. Up to now, around 1 million euros have been invested in different projects.
"It is a real support for the continuation of the internal reforms of the country's modernization, but even more important for us is that Poland remains one of the most active supporters of the European path of the Republic of Moldova," said the Prime Minister.
The President of the Senate of Poland said that his country will continue to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova and wants to share the experience gained in this respect. At the same time, the official thanked the authorities for the support given to the Polish Diaspora in the Republic of Moldova. At present, about 20,000 ethnic Poles live in our country.
Pavel Filip and Stanislaw Karczewski pronounced to boost trade, scientific, cultural, but also tourism, mentioning the importance of inter-human relations. A special role in ensuring good communication between states has also the four Honorary Consulates of our country in the Republic of Poland.
Poland ranks 8th among the main trading partners of the Republic of Moldova, being a leader among EU countries in importing Moldovan wines. Pavel Filip invited Polish businessmen to invest in our country.
Actually, the largest Polish investor is a sugar-producing company with over $15 million in investments.
"We are interested in this investment being followed by others. We are open to potential investors and we will treat them with utmost care", concluded the Prime Minister.
