Pavel Filip: We will fight corruption only if we gather forces
"We will succeed and achieve the results we aspire for in our fight against corruption when we will unite our forces: Government, local public administration, civil society, business field." The declaration was made today by Pavel Filip within the working session of the 2 Monitoring Group of the National Anti-Corruption and Integrity Strategy 2017-2020. At the event participated members of the Government, the presidents of district, business field representatives and members of the civil society.
The prime minister mentioned that the strategy is essential in our fight against corruption. This is why, in the past two years the Republic of Moldova has adopted a comprehensive legal framework in the field of preventing and combating corruption. At the same time, independent institutions are also functioning: the National Anti-Corruption Center, the National Integrity Authority, the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Goods, the Prevention and Combating Money Laundering Service.
"The efficiency of these institutions and the implementation of the legal framework is our joint effort, our will. We can achieve results only when we all get involved, each institution apart can not change things", said Pavel Filip.
Within the session there were presented nine anti-corruption plans and the monitoring report regarding the implementation of the strategy for 2017. It has been proven that nine out of 43 planned actions were realized.
The representatives of the civil society proposed a vast range of recommendations to implement the provisions of the strategy and, among other things, mentioned the importance of increasing access to public information, the implementation of sectoral plans, and organizing public consultations to assess their fulfillment.
The National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy 2017-2020 was adopted on March 30, 2017 and was developed with the support of national and international experts, civil society and development partners. An important contributor to this process was Pawel Wojtunik, senior EU anti-corruption adviser.
