PDM congratulates Andrea Nahles on becoming first female leader of Social Democratic Party of Germany
PDM congratulates Madam Andrea Nahles on being elected as leader of Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). After the Sunday's vote, SPD will have for the first time a female leader, after Andrea Nahles was chosen for this position.
Democratic Party of Moldova is confident that the new president will accomplish successfully her mission to strengthen the party.
A delegation of PDM, led by Madam Violeta Ivanov, attended the conference dedicated to the elections from the Social Democratic Party of Germany. Madam Ivanov has passed the congratulatory message of PDM's leader, Vlad Plahotniuc, highlighting the good relations the Democratic Party of Moldova has with the Social Democratic Party of Germany.
"We congratulated Madam Nahles on becoming the first female leader in the party’s history. At the same time, while our delegation was in Germany, we had the chance to speak with multiple social democratic leaders from Germany regarding the future of democracy and of Moldova - Germany relations. I wish to mention the meeting with Olaf Scholz, Federal Minister of Germany for Finance, whom I thanked for the financial support offered to Republic of Moldova by Germany and European Union" Violeta Ivanov. said.
The official added that she also spoke with multiple representatives of Bundestag, where multiple invitations were offered to visit Moldova, including for observing the parliamentary elections from this autumn.
During the conference, PDM delegation met with Elke Ferner, president of SPD Women's Organization, Hubertus Heil, Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Axel Schäfer, member of the European Council, Christine Lambrecht, member of Bundestag and Pedro Sánchez.
Andrea Nahles became the first female leader in the party’s 155-year history, being backed by 66.35%, winning against Simone Lange, mayor of Flensburg, and now replacing Martin Schulz.
