PDM Leader, Vlad Plahotniuc to meet UNDP administrator, Achim Steiner in New York
The socio-political situation and the Moldovan reforms were discussed in New York by PDM chairman Vlad Plahotniuc and UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner.
The Democratic leader indicates the Government is firmly committed to reform, which serve a purpose of country modernization. "The Roadmap assumption in collaboration with European partners is one of the first measures taken by Moldova", cited by the leader.
According to the PDM president, the implementation of these reforms has made progress in several areas, and these have been positively appreciated by the foreign partners.
Furthermore, he appreciated and advocated the programs developed by UNDP in Moldova. Besides, the professionalism of the UNDP team in Moldova, led by Dafina Gercheva was extolled as well.
The Justice Minister, Vladimir Cebotari, also mentioned Moldova was interested in developing joint programs on the Penitentiary Institutions Department platform in Moldova. He stressed its importance on the National Justice Institute, particularly in human rights protection with regard to, for instance, the inclusion of the disabled as well as discrimination prevention.
Likewise, Moldovan Economy Minister, Vitalie Iurcu mentioned the national interest and support in new energy efficiency project.
The UNDP chief appreciated Moldova efforts to promote the reform agenda and encouraged Moldova to move forward. Achim Steiner on behalf of UNDP pledged support over humanitarian programs to raise living standards in Moldova.
Moldovan Democratic Chairman, Vlad Plahotniuc is on his visit to the United States (New York) on July 10-12, 2017, on the occasion of the Socialist International Council.
Vlad Plahotniuc has series of meetings with social-democratic and socialist leaders in the world, as well as with American officials.
