Peacekeeping operation on Nistru's celebration disclaimed
Chisinau asks Moscow to abandon the unilateral organization of the celebrations dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the peacekeeping operation on Nistru.
In this respect, today the Foreign Ministry has summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Farit Muhametşin.
Thus, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation was reminded that it is not appropriate to invite artists and delegates from the Russian Federation to the anniversary celebrations, focusing on the friendship and trust relations between Moldova and Russia.
In the same context, several approaches from the Moldovan authorities for the transformation of the peacekeeping mission into an international multinational civilian mandate have been invoked.
The foreign minister suggested the Russian delegation led by the vice Premier Dmitri Rogozin to cancel his visit to Moldova to participate at the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the peacekeeping mission.
Yesterday, Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament, gave a tough reply to the head of state, Igor Dodon, who announced that he would share decorations on the left bank of the Nistru River.
In a post on the Internet, Candu suggested to Dodon that the frequent violation of the Constitution could lead Parliament to review the duties of the country's president.
And the leader of the PDM, Vlad Plahotniuc, told the prestigious American magazine The Hill that Moldova needed US and EU’s support to solve the Transnistrian conflict and not to fall again under Russia's influence.
