Grigore Vieru would have been 83 today. Friends, family and admirers of his creations will gather today to lay flowers at his bust from the Alley of Classics.

Grigore Vieru had the diploma of  Hans Christian Andersen Awards, an honor for any writer. In 1958 he graduated from Ion Creangă Pedagogical State University, Faculty of History and Philosophy. The poet was born in 1935, Pererâta village, Briceni district.

He passed away on 18 January 2009, after a heart attack, caused by a car accident.
