Plum festival in Nisporeni. 30 entrepreneurs brought their products

Fresh, dried or chocolate plums. All were exhibited at the Plum Festival held in Nisporeni. The district boasts most plum orchards and fruit dryers. 30 farmers came at the event to show their production.
"We are dealing with the processing and drying of fruits and vegetables, sweets and many good things for everyone who has come to this holiday today", said entrepreneur Tudor Botez.
"We have dried plums, fresh plums plum have different tastes, flavors", said entrepreneur Lilian Oprea.
To create a festive atmosphere, six folk ensembles took part in the festival. From small to large, people got into the mountain.
Visitors appreciated how well the festival was organized.
"With our parents, our grandchildren, cousins. We feel good in our town."
"I bought dry suckers to send to children in Italy. I photographed all these little houses to see the children doing in Moldova."
In addition to plum drinks, people could get things from folk craftsmen.
"There are handmade things, all weaving in the stalls, the horboţca is crocheted, around 1,500 lei the whole costume for a young lady", said Maria Rusu, a master craftsman.
"From small souvenirs, wine jugs, to pots, we have pots for cooking", said potter Adrian Onuţă.
Even though farmers have obtained a rich plum crop this year, many have no place to sell their products.
"It is difficult to achieve because the prices are low, it is not even convenient for those who produce. We are looking for a solution together with the Ministry of Economy so that we can make the production here and process it", said the Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Liviu Volconovici.
The Plum Festival is held on the third Sunday of September. Hosts of the event confess that plum orchards are a real treasure that must be fully exploited, and the festival has become a tradition for locals.
"We have extensive plums at the same time we have new plum plantations every year. We have about two thousand hectares and producers for which it has become a tradition of processing this product," said Nisporeni district chairwoman Ghenadie Verdeş.
"We meet all plum producers here in the heart of Nisporeni. We are glad that we can host them all and make this celebration a soul of all Nisporeni", said the mayor of Nisporeni, Grogore Robu.
Every year, Moldovan farmers export about 37 thousand tons of plums, mainly in the Russian Federation, Belarus, Ukraine and Romania.
