Princely Forest reserve to welcome more muskoxen and deer from Republic of Belarus (photoreport)
Administration of Princely Forest reserve will exchange animals with the Republic of Belarus for the propagation of the specimens of musk ox in our country.
One of the males is too old, and the others are the followers of the females in the herd, so the animals can not multiply.
Seven muskoxen, two females and five males are living on the reserve of around 32 hectares .
"Rodavich, the male who was brought from Poland in 2005, is already old and can no longer have offspring. He's around 15 years old. He was separated from others because he became so aggressive".
For species persistence, urgent need for other specimens of the breed. Otherwise, the animals in the reserve will die of old, without offspring.
"It is not advisable to mating. If we do not take action, we limit ourselves to these seven muskoxen that we have. Their life in our captivity is up to 25-27 years, "said Vadim Pacicovschi, a cyber engineer.
The first discussions with representatives of the Republic of Belarus on the exchange of animals took place in September last year. It is hoped that the four young males from us will be given in exchange for four other muskoxen until the summer. On this occasion, some deer of noble race will be brought.
"We have a population of noble deer in the given area, which is drawn from the Teleneşti enterprise. The population was also raised in captivity and to refresh the blood so it would not degrade genetically," said Valeriu Svistun, director of the The Princely Forest.
The Princely Forest reservation is visited annually by more than four thousand tourists, both in the country and abroad.
