The PRO MOLDOVA party has submitted a draft amendment to the Electoral Code, proposing that elections be held abroad over two days: Saturday and Sunday.
"Through this initiative, we want to show you that politicians really care and that if they make promises, they keep their promises. There has been a lot of talk about caring for the diaspora. Let us then offer them the chance to vote in normal conditions, especially considering the pandemic ", said the president of PRO MOLDOVA Andrian Candu.
The PRO MOLDOVA leader urged all colleagues in parliament to support the bill.
"And if someone says that these rules cannot be applied to the current presidential elections, it is not bad, then these rules are applied for the next elections", Andrian Candu also said.
The PRO MOLDOVA leader mentioned that changes in the electoral legislation for the extension of the voting period, in the context of the pandemic, were made recently in Romania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Canada. At the same time, the Joint Opinion of the Venice Commission and the OSCE / ODI is in favor of the 2-day voting proposals, and the CEC would establish clear rules to ensure the security and integrity of the voting process abroad.
