The ring road of Chisinau municipality will again be repaired. The Ministry of Economy managed to sign the contract for the rehabilitation of 6.55 km of road. There will be two Moldovan companies that have won the auction.

The cost of the project funded by the European Investment Bank is about nine million euros. 

"It is important for us that the investments and the money we invest in the construction of the road remain in the national economy. We have fought as Moldovan entrepreneurs to participate in such auctions", said the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici.

The ring road of Chisinau municipality is about 10 kilometers west of the capital. According to the project, the four existing lanes will be rehabilitated and the road system rebuilt.

At the same time, the floors will be demolished and rebuilt and the surface water abstraction and evacuation systems improved. The project term is two years. The rehabilitation contract was signed by the Ministry of Transport as early as September 2015 and the works were due to be concluded in January 2018.

The works were stopped after April 2017, the then Transport Minister, Iurie Chirinciuc, was arrested, being suspected in a corruption file related to the repair of this part of the road.

Later, he was sentenced to one and four months imprisonment in a semi-closed penitentiary.
