Property tax can now be paid online. State Fiscal Service elaborated two online payment methods, using online signature and by inserting the code mentioned in the payment notice. Those who will pay in time will also have a discount. Moldovans have split opinions regarding the online payment.

The deadline for property tax payment was prolonged to July 2, 2018.

Those who have an online signature can use the platform meant for electronic fiscal services.

"People can enter on Servicii.fisc.md. Find the property form. Log in using M PAS. Then pay the tax. They select the year for which they wish the tax to be calculated for and then pay for it. The system will ask the payment method and the person will use the card" head of State Fiscal Service, Sergiu Puşcuţa said.

In case people have only the payment notice, they can pay using the Government's payment system.

"You find the service. Find the property tax section. Here it is necessary to know the code written on the payment notice. Insert the code and the amount is then displayed" Sergiu Puşcuţa explained.

Still, many people have more trust in the traditional payment methods.

"-You know you can pay online?

-Yes, but it is more comfortable this way."

"I pay the traditional way. Why? It is more convenient and safe. In time, we will get used to it."

Still, some agree that online payment can rid them of the trouble of waiting in lines and saves time.

"It is more convenient to pay online, because you stay home."

"Online payment is more convenient. You can pay anything while in bed."

A total of 164 million lei were paid last year in property tax, the amount increasing by 30% since 2016. Around 70% of people respected the deadline and gained a 15% discount that is also available this year.
