Protest at the City Hall! People displeased by the court's decisions to not validate the mayoral elections
Supporters of PPDA's leader, Andrei Năstase, held yesterday a protest. The crowd was displeased by Chisinau Court's decision to not validate the mayoral elections from 3rd June. People have gathered in front of the City Hall, then walked to the headquarters of the Democratic Party. Later, they marched on Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt boulevard, having partially blocked the traffic. The event ended in the Great National Assembly Square.
"We will not go home until you won't validate our vote for Năstase."
People claim that the court's decision was one-sided.
"Why were the elections even held if they decided such a thing?"
"They had no right, I am sure they didn't. A judge decides a city's fate, this is not real."
"I came here to defend my vote. Those votes belong to all citizens of Chisinau."
The protesters were also led by the chosen Mayor Andrei Năstase and leader of PAS, Maia Sandu. The event was also attended by former Mayor Dorin Chirtoacă. During the protest, Andrei Năstase declared that the court's duty was to make a legal decision and to validate the elections.
"This is a political decision and the court has mocked the people's wish" Andrei Năstase said.
During the protest, public order was ensured by law enforcement.
