Pupils live in 70's conditions at dormitory of professional school from Cimişlia
Pupils of a professional boarding school from Cimişlia have to live in rooms with cracked walls, worn-out beds and old furniture. It is probably the only place where you can find linoleum and wardrobe dating from 1977.
Ever since its establishment, the building was not once repaired. The school's direct claims that due to lack of finance they cannot offer pupils better living conditions and therefore, they have to bring some necessities from home.
Despite being capable of housing 400 pupils, the dormitory has only 87 residents. Many of its rooms being closed off.
Children claim that winters are the hardest:
"How do you deal with the cold? -We shut the widows and sleep with a bottle filled with hot water."
"We tape shut the windows and it helps preserve the heat. We have brought in vary many items from home, to make it more comfortable: carpets, tablecloth and curtains."
Others are not bothered at all by the awful conditions:
"The conditions here are good. The beds cozy. We brought from home some carpets and curtains and live here very well."
"We take care of what was offered and bring stuff from home to improve the conditions. It does not bother me at all."
Dormitory administrator announced that they are all resources to its maximum capacity.
"We tape the windows shut, warm up the rooms and preserve the heat. We do our best with what we have. With the little provided we try to make it as comfortable to live here as possible" administrator Nina Todorov said.
School director confessed that repair works are needed, but there are no funds.
"I believe it would require around three million lei for capital repairs. To replace the sewage system, water pipes, floors and all the old furniture." director Vasile Bulat stated.
The annual costs for the dormitory is of 243 lei.
