Quality of fuel sold in Republic of Moldova will be inspected in accordance with EU standards
The parameters of fuel quality, as well as its import and its sale at gas stations will be calculated based on European requirements. The executive has approved the changes to petroleum products law, which foresees for a system to be established to monitor the fuel quality in Republic of Moldova according to European standards.
Monitoring fuel quality will be performed by competent authorities, who will further present all data to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Agency. The control foresees sampling petrol and diesel, located near customs and at gas stations, tests based on European standards, with inspection reports.
Therefore, fuel quality will be determined in accordance with European standards, while the annual report on petroleum products quality sold in Republic of Moldova will be available to consumers.
At the moment, in Republic of Moldova certification of petroleum products is based on SM and GOST standards, different from those established in EU.
