In order to reduce the number of road accidents, PGI and INP have decided to convene meetings with the local public administration, with the economic agents and with the roads. They will meet on trails where many tragedies occur and will determine which are the most common causes.

The decision comes after the tragic Thursday accident near the village of Verejeni, Teleneşti district, which took the lives of two people. According to the police, the tragedy occurred because the car was not properly equipped. The car had summer tires and the vehicle skidded off the road covered with snow.

To prevent such tragedies, the National Patrol Inspectorate raided national roads, and drivers who did not wear winter tires were sanctioned.

This driver had only two winter tires in the car and the other two were worn and designed for the warm season. The man did not want to recognize this even in his head.

Some drivers say they do not risk to use summer tires in the cold season.

"The National Patrolled Inspectorate carries out such operations in order to ensure road traffic safety because many drivers do not provide their vehicles with winter wheels, which is why many road accidents occur," said Ion Gurdiş, main specialist of INP.

Drivers who do not equip their car are liable to a fine of three hundred lei.
