Recent rains have caused a havoc in Gherman village, Ungheni. Dozens of households were completely flooded, while people remained stuck in the gardens. A few minutes were enough to destroy the houses.

Agafia Ivanova, 70, could only helplessly watch how her harden was being flooded. The woman claims that over the past 30 years, her household was flooded three times.

Others claim that the water rose to knee level.

"I cannot even go to the yard. I tried yesterday and fell, some neighbors helped me up. Everything was wet, I had no dry clothes."

Villagers even tried to dig dams to stop the water.

"I have tried everything to stop the water from entering the house, but it still did. I even dug a dam" villager Alexandra Cernei said.

People claim that their households are flooded whenever it rains, because the drains were never cleaned for the past 10 years.

The amount of damage was not yet calculated. People believe that it could reach to a few thousands lei for each affected household.
