The Republic of Moldova continues to meet the criteria underlying the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU. It is the conclusion of the European Commission's first Annual Report on the Visa Suspension Mechanism, which assesses the level of implementation of free visa regime conditions with the European Union for the Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership countries.

At the same time, the report comes with some recommendations to consolidate the politics of our country, especially to prevent and fight against corruption and money laundering.

MAEIE urges the national authorities to cooperate with the European Commission, to apply the recommendations, because those are already in the Association Agenda of 2017-2019.

Travelling without visa facilitates the communication between countries, the development of affairs, cultural and social development and so on. At the end of the first year of implementing this agreement, 241 415 Moldovans traveled in the Schengen space, at the end of the second year, 577 058, the third year 982 764 and in 2017, 1 328 083.

The possibility to travel without visa is opened for the all 1 059 358 of passport owners from Moldova and 144 128 users from Transnistrean region.
