The Republic of Moldova offered Ukraine the presidency of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development (GUAM).
The event took place at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of GUAM, held in Milan, in the margins of the annual meeting of heads of national diplomats of the OSCE member states.
Referring to the actions set out in the program of the presidency of the Republic of Moldova in GUAM for 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, who led the meeting, mentioned that during this year a series of actions the achievement of mutually beneficial objectives both for the member states and the regions they are part of, established new partnerships of political, economic, cultural, social cooperation etc.
Among the successes of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova in GUAM were the meeting of the Member States' Prime Ministers in October in Chisinau, during which several issues were agreed with a practical impact on the cooperation between the member states, but also for the economic agents and citizens the organization of the XIth session of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly, the meeting of heads of consular services of the Foreign Ministries, as well as a series of joint actions of the diplomatic missions of the member countries in the accreditation capitals as well as within the international organizations .
"I am convinced that the tradition agreed in GUAM to build consensus, based on the good will of its members, will enable the Organization to continue successfully advancing towards mutually beneficial cooperation at regional and international level", stressed Minister Tudor Ulianovschi.
The participants at the summit appreciated the cooperation in the GUAM + Japan format and welcomed the first round organized by the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with the GUAM Secretariat of the GUAM + Canada format.
At the end of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers' Council GUAM approved the decision to forward the presidency for next year to Ukraine.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi wished success to Ukrainian colleagues, expressing the certainty that the Organization will continue to consolidate cooperation for the benefit of member countries and their citizens.
