Residents from Tocuz, consulted for free by doctors in HEALTH CARE Program
Diabetes, hypertension, and vision problems. These are the most common diseases found in the elderly in the village of Tocuz, Causeni district. Five doctors, including an ophthalmologist and an endocrinologist, consulted the locals for free.
"At this lady is an incipient cataract that needs correction and at the moment a therapeutic treatment. It is very predominant now that the color disorders are glaucoma and cataract", said Tatiana Cebanu, ophthalmologist Causeni District Hospital.
Emiliana Melnic is 68 years old, and for over than ten years the sight has dropped significantly:
"I recommended that in October I go to make an surgery in Chisinau. Thank you very much for taking care of the health of the elderly."
Patients who have queued at the five cabinets say that the lack of doctors in the town gives them big beatings.
"We should go to Causeni, but if you have foot problems, I can not climb the minibus".
Besides, things do not get better anymore. There are few endocrinologists and cardiologists, and people complain that in order to get to a consultation they have to wait a month. Today, at the door of specialists, queues were formed:
"Many of them are not constantly treated, they die of diet, diet, all of them are obese, have diabetes, hypertension, dyslepidemia", said Aurelia Mihailova, an endocrinologist.
"Physicians who are in the localities are too few, so it is necessary for more specialists to travel to the localities" - Olga Dontu, said the president of the district organization of the elderly people The Nation's Treasurer.
In some situations, doctors go home to sick patients immobilized to bed.
"We organize transport either ours or the City Hall and the doctors go where there are many people who share it." During the start of the project in the localities we had cases when it was necessary to call for salvation and three patients were hospitalized" - said Galina Procop, Vice-President of the National Organization of Persons in the Nation's Treasury.
The "Care for Health" campaign started in May at the PDM initiative with the support of the Ministry of Health. Until now, doctors have examined over 2,200 people. The action will last until the end of the year.
