Interim general mayor, Ruslan Codreanu, had a meeting today with the mayor of Riga, Nils Ušakovs.
The two officials discussed the social and economic situation of the cities of Chisinau and Riga, as well as the opportunity to establish cooperation and exchange experience between the two cities.
The Interim General Mayor has shown interest in working with the Riga City Administration, taking into account the experience and evolution of the Latvian part, especially in areas such as waste management and sanitation, public patrimony and building rehabilitation.
"We presented the current Chisinau public administration for collaboration and exchange of experience in the implementation of urban development policies and strategies, as well as waste management and storage management", said Ruslan Codreanu.
In turn, Riga Mayor Nils Ušakovs has shown his willingness to cooperate and provide the necessary expertise for Chisinau to develop joint projects. The two editors agreed that Chisinau City Hall will be a team of specialists from IM. "Autosalubrity", who will be moving to Riga in January 2019 on a training and exchange of experience mission. At the same time, in February of next year, representatives of the Getlini Eko municipal enterprise, Europe's largest waste management polygon, will visit Chisinau to support the reorganization of the waste collection service in the capital.
The meeting took place in the context of the official visit by Interim General Mayor Ruslan Codreanu to Latvia on December 11-13 in Chisinau . The Chisinau Delegation Program also provides meetings with Riga City Council Vice President, Andris Ameriks, as well as meetings with representatives of the Latvian business associations.
