Russian deputy prime minister deletes tweets threatening Romania
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin deleted a series of tweets where he publicly berated the Romanian government, which last month refused to allow his commercial flight into its airspace.
Rogozin, who is under EU sanctions, planned to visit Chisinau in mid-July to attend a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping operation in Transnistria. He was invited by the president of Moldova, and advised to fly on a commercial airline, because he is under EU sanctions as a Russian state official.
Rogozin tried to fly to Chisinau on a S7 Airlines flight, but Romanian officials learned he was on the plane and turned it around. Without enough fuel to return to Moscow, the plane landed in Minsk. The deputy prime minister later tweeted, “Just wait for [our] response, you bastards.”
