Russian diplomacy was badly offended by the Chişinău authorities for their decision to declare the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin - persona non grata. Moldovan Ambassador to Moscow, Andrei Neguţa, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry to be handed a firm protest note.
In a press release published on the site of the institution, it is said that in recent years Russia has made efforts to develop relations with our country. The statement speaks of the removal of the embargo for some Moldovan products and the abolition of bans on several Moldovan citizens.
"These steps are in contrast with the actions of the Chisinau authorities, which could lead to the destabilization of the situation in the region," the Russian Foreign Ministry says in the issued document.
The Kremlin says it will respond to these actions. At the same time, Russian President's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said the decision of the Chisinau authorities is absolutely unacceptable and is way more serious than the US sanctions against Russia.
