Vitaly Milonov, a deputy in the State Duma of Russia, appealed to the Communications Minister to ban the free of charge pornographic sites in Russia, Digi24.ro informs.
In addition, the MP wants to cut off the access of all Russians to pornographic sites until an age verification measure is implemented, RIA Novosti informs by quoting by Meduza.io.
Milonov argues that easy access to pornography is a threat to mental health of adolescents.
In his letter to the Minister of Communications he cites the opinions of experts in psychology and psychiatry. He also argued that free pornographic websites are blocked in several countries, but he gave no examples.
In July 2017, in an effort not to get blocked in Russia, Pornhub instituted an age verification measure through the Vkontakte social network, a Russian Facebook version, to prove that individuals who access its content are at least 18 years old.
