"Say NO to violence" campaign continues to raise awareness about domestic violence
The "Say NO to Violence" campaign of Vlad Plahotniuc's "Edelweiss" Foundation arrived in Carabetovca village, Basarabeasca district. The "Stefan cel Mare" High School students were taught to defend their rights and to report cases of violence.
Students claim that thanks to this training they have learned how to get involved in solving cases of domestic violence:
"We know whom to call and the number and we also know that it's a secret one"
"Violence could manifest itself through parents that are prohibiting their children to have no contact with peers, teachers or to attend certain dance, painting classes and other types of social interacting classes."
"I know children who are being maltreated and I'll try to help them by guiding them to call the child help line"
The school management claims that students needed such training.
"We know cases of parents abandoning children. Children are neglected. Parents don't provide the necessary support. There is a certain distance between them. There is no child-parent relationship, no growing relation" , said the deputy director of "Stefan cel Mare" High School, Tatiana Vasluianu.
So far more than 1,000 children from schools across the country have been trained in the campaign "Say NO to Violence".
"Most students knew about the physical violence, but were unaware of other forms. But from now on, they will be more aware of other forms of violence and will try to provide help", said project manager, Sabina Crigan.
The informational tour under the "Protected families" campaign was launched on November 29th.
