School director from Chisinau suspected of child trafficking to remain under arrest
The deputy chief of Office of Prosecutor General of Republic of Moldova, Valeriu Bodean has declared that director of a boarding middle school, suspected of child trafficking, remains under arrest. The decision was made today by Chisinau Court of Appeal, who rejected the appeals of the man's lawyers.
The man is investigated in the case of a pupil sexually harassed by a businessman. Supposedly the harasser has met the 14-year-old orphan through the institution's director.
Investigators from National Investigative Inspectorate have established that they child was taken from the boarding school's grounds illegally and taken to an apartment where he was sexually harrased.
If found guilty, each man risks up to 20 years of imprisonment, or even life sentences.
