Sergiu Cioclea at Moldova Business Week 2018: We have stable and stable banks for investment
After the bank fraud and the crisis that followed, the banking system was cleaned and we can now say that we have sound and stable banks ready to support investors. The statement was made by the Governor of the National Bank, Sergiu Cioclea, at the "Moldova Business Week 2018" conference.
"Citizens have regained her confidence and the banking system. Our banks hold about 1.5 billion waiting to be invested in projects or loans - is a stately reserve and I'm sure it will be the basis for future economic growth. In 2018 we have three new investors in the Moldovan banking system. I expect another 1-2 new investors to come next year. "It is not a goal in itself to change the structure of the shareholders in the banks, but we want more experienced investors, who know how to channel the savings accumulated in the form of deposits in value projects that will ensure the country's growth and social welfare", Sergiu Cioclea said.
The official was convinced that now is the right time to invest in the Republic of Moldova.
"We are not the poorest country in this country, but unfortunately we are the country where we do not yet know how to invest the money properly to ensure the prosperity of the population", highlighted Sergiu Cioclea.
The NBM governor specified that the new reformed banking system will play an active role in this.
"Moldova Business Week" is an annual platform for the exchange of information and best practices for the implementation of policies for economic development and the presentation of the global trends aligned with the Republic of Moldova.
