Shootings in Texas. One woman dead, four people injured
A pair of shootings in Austin, Texas, early Sunday killed at least one woman and injured four other people, officials said.
Witnesses reported a woman shot at 2:17 a.m. outside the popular bars and music clubs on E. 6th St. and San Jacinto Blvd. in Downtown Austin, said Austin police Chief of Staff Brian Manley. Eight minutes later, a call about an assault with shots fired in a nearby parking garage suggested a possible active mass shooting was taking place, Manley said.
“Active shooter incident downtown, multiple victims,” the Austin Police Department tweeted moments later. “Stay away from downtown.”
Investigators no longer believe the two shootings were related.
