Silvia Radu: Romanian model regarding integration of emergency services can be successful implemented in Moldova
The Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Silvia Radu, together with the head of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of Mihail Harabagiu, had a meeting with Raed Arafat, the state secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs, on emergency situations.
The purpose of the meeting was to take over from Romania's experience in reforming and developing emergency medical assistance and initiating cooperation on improving this area in the Republic of Moldova.
"Romania advanced a lot in the management of emergency situations. We want the same thing in our country. We need to identify the most effective measures to optimize medical emergency interventions", said Silvia Radu.
Raed Arafat mentioned that emergency care should be seen as a whole, where firefighters and ambulance teams must work together. Romania has done this, and due to the framing of the decommissioning teams, as well as the establishment of the Emergency Prize Unit, the 50% reduction in mortality in emergency cases has been achieved.
Also today, Silvia Radu also visited the Center for Emergency Situations, where he met his model of operation: "This center is a model where SMURD and Ambulances collaborate to solve medical emergencies. It is a model to follow for Moldova, as SMURD and the National Pre-hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Center to cooperate in order to reach citizens who need medical assistance faster."
Because of the SMURD project - 2 Improving the Operational Infrastructure of the Emergency Mobile Service, Resuscitation and Dismantling, and the training of the emergency personnel at the Border Area between the Republic of Moldova and Romania", financed by the European Commission, the Institute of Emergency Medicine will to build an Emergency Prize Unit that will be equipped with high-performance equipment.
We mention that the Republic of Moldova benefits from the support of Romania within the border project through the interventions with the SMURD helicopter. Since the beginning of 2015, 106 interventions have been carried out so far.
