Social projects initiated by PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc to come back to life
The social projects initiated by former Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc which were cancelled by the ACUM - PSRM Government in the summer will be carried out again. These are Good Roads program and A Doctor For You campaign. President Igor Dodon announced this after the weekly briefing by the State Residence. He said he already had discussions in this regard with the Cabinet of Ministers led by Ion Chicu.
On February 27, 2018, former PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc announced about the program to repair over 1600 km of road in Moldova.
When Maia Sandu became prime minister, all the social projects initiated by the former PDM Vlad Plahotniuc were practically suspended.
On August 1, 2019, the then Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Vadim Brânzan announced that the Good Roads Program will end although he praised the project at the beginning of his mandate.
"We will terminate this program this year. Next year a Road Fund will be probably created", said Minister Vadim Brînzan.
However, after the working session when President Dodon met with PM Ion Chicu and Parliament President Zinaida Greceanîi, the programs were decided to continue.
"The Government decided to allocate an additional billion lei for the so-called Good Roads program. Regarding the road and good road fund, the Government informed that the work could start in April, May", Dodon said.
A Doctor For You campaign launched by Democrats but cancelled by ACUM - PSRM government. The then Minister of Health, Ala Nemerenco, wrote on social network that the program should be called off.
Then, President Igor Dodon announced the campaign would be resumed in February.
"We set the task to resume the program which was pretty good: A doctor for you program. Teams of good doctors will go to many localities in Moldova and will offer free lung and breast screening, free dental treatment and consultation for children", said the head of state.
