Starts GOOD ROADS PROGRAM 2. There will be 2,600 kilometers of national and local roads asphalted
This year, the authorities plan to rehabilitate 2600 kilometers of national, local or regional roads. 50 percent of the works will be covered by foreign investment, and the rest, from the money allocated from the state budget or the Road Fund.
Therefore, the Chisinau - Cimislia - Comrat - Giurgiulesti route will be repaired. In the spring, works on the Porumbrei-Cimislia artery, with a length of 19 kilometers, will begin. The costs amount to 29 million euros and the money will be provided by the European Investment Bank. Several sections of the M3 national route will be repaired: the road around Comrat, which will cost nearly 30 million euros, but also several portions, about 85 kilometers in total, which will cost nearly 90 million euro.
"Having completed these contracts, the entire route from Chisinau to Giurgiulesti, the only port in the Republic of Moldova, will be secured for heavy traffic because you know that it causes a lot of discontent for the population, the roads in the villages are used," said Anatol Usatîi, secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
Among the regional roads under repair are also the Balti - Falesti - Sculeni section. The route has a length of over 50 kilometers and the cost of the works amounts to more than 60 million euros, money provided by the EIB as well. It will be ready in September.
"A fairly advanced stage, close to 60 percent, is completed, there are the more complicated works, the bridge over the railway, where the pillars are already built, the support system", said Anatol Usatii.
This year, asphalting will continue through some villages where the "Good Roads" project didn't arrive. Mayors are to select the sections, depending on the needs of the people. Pavements, storm ducts, lighting system and road markings will be built.
"We are still waiting to present the information from the District Councils. We come with more concrete figures, the number of kilometers, types of works, interventions, and the necessary budget", said Anatol Usatii, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
Last year, 1600 km of road was repaired within the governmental project "Good Roads for Moldova". The amount of the investments was about 1.9 billion lei. This year will continue under the name "Good Roads 2". Both were launched at the initiative of the President of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc.
