The operation of GUAM Free Trade Agreement to fully harness the commercial and economic potential of the member states of the organization, the agenda of the presidency of the Republic of Moldova as well as other organizational and practical issues were discussed at the meeting of the GUAM Council of National Coordinators, by MAAEIE State Secretary Tatiana Molcean.
During talks, Tatiana Molcean stressed the need to operate the GUAM Free Trade Agreement by signing the Third Protocol on the Country of Origin Rule of Origin between GUAM Member States and continuing the process of reforming the Sectoral Cooperation Groups with a view to capitalizing efficient and sustainable commercial and economic potential of GUAM Member States.
The participants exchanged views on the topics of the agenda of the presidency of the Republic of Moldova within GUAM, including the implementation of the GUAM Free Trade Agreement, the promotion of the attractiveness and competitiveness of the organization's transport corridor, the stimulation of sectoral activities, especially in commerce, infrastructure, as well as the extension of multilateral cooperation in the GUAM + format.
Also, the participants of the Council meeting coordinated the agenda of the meeting of the Heads of Government of the GUAM member states, which will be held on October 5, 2018 in Chisinau.
The visit also included a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Vasyl Bodnar, discussing the latest developments in Moldovan-Ukrainian relations, as well as a series of topics of interest for both parties.
We remind that the Republic of Moldova holds the Presidency in office at GUAM in 2018.
