Story of transplant coordinator who saved 30 lives during eight years
Doctors and transplant coordinators are the persons who have to discuss with patients' relatives, an absolutely important mission in transformation of organ donation.
Cornelia Guțu Bahov from hospital Sfânta Treime is one of mission carriers. For 8 years, she's managed to saved 30 lives thanks to transplants. She said she attended some courses abroad in psychological training and her profession.
According to the doctor, more and more Moldovans become aware of importance of organ donation.
"There were fewer refusals from religious families. This's good sign".
Other two young doctors in hospital Sfânta Treime want to become transplant coordinators.
"We want to help as many patients as possible, to help them have a second life", " Iraida Camerzan explained.
The Transplant Agency aims to increase the number of operations in the coming years, therefore, more coordinators are required.
At present, there are only nine transplant coordinators in Moldova. They work at the Sfânta Treime Hospital, the Institute of Urgent Medicine and Neurology and Neurosurgery. Their salary amounts to seven thousand lei.
