Students and teachers from State University of Medicine and Pharmacy donated over 400 books to Institute of Mother and Child
Children hospitalized at the Institute of Mother and Child will start not only receiving treatment, but also interesting lectures.
Before Easter, students and teachers from State University of Medicine and Pharmacy have donated for the children over 400 books.
The event was organized to mark the World Health Day.
Mihaela was hospitalized five days ago and has another five days of treatments left. The little girl claim that she did not bring a single book from home, causing the days in the hospital to seem long and boring.
"This book is about the History of Romania and I believe it will be very useful for me."
Therefore, Mihaela and other dozens of children received free books containing stories and poetry, novels and even encyclopedias.
"You can both read and color this book. I hope you will like it. -Thank you. -You are welcome."
"I am bored here and this book will make time pass faster when I will be alone."
"I love reading so I will enjoy this book."
Some parents became tearful when they saw the gesture.
"This is not something you see every day. -Why are you crying? -I am a very emotional person and I always cry when I see beautiful things."
After the students gifted the children books, they also offered a lecture. The future doctors chose to read stories to children who cannot do so for themselves at the moment.
The students launched the campaign at the end of February. From the over 400 gathered books, nearly half will be donated to the ward's library. The young people have also collected 500 lei to purchase coloring books.
"We hope those books will allow children to have a better time in the hospital and perhaps it will help them get well sooner" student Antonela Carangiu said.
"Children are happier, they enjoy the books. It allows then pass time faster and perhaps helps ignore some pain" chief of the pediatric ward, Ina Palii said.
The Campaign "Share a book, share health" reached its 3rd edition, being organized by students and teachers from State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Last year, they donated over 600 books for children hospitalized in Emilian Coţaga clinic.
